Plants in the Park- Dimi Stanos
This book is part of the National Geographic Windows on Literacy series. I introduced this book to my son when he Chardonnay two and he absolutely loved it. This graded reader series are easy to read and have visually stunning photographs inside.
On the inner cover of the book there are teaching notes for parents. I find these tips very handy as it helped me in showing how the book dui auto insurance be more interactive with my child.
There are two focuses in the book.
Literacy Focus
Under this focus there are
- Print and Book Conventions- Parents are shown the benefit of print and book conventions. In a printed book, the pictures and words work together to give meaning.-Children are taught to read from left to right. They also learn that space between words marks the beginning and end of words.-The child also learns that the order of words convey different meanings and how sentences are punctuated.
- Oral Language Whatwehave -Naming of plants found in the park - Discussing how the plants in the book are alike or different.
- Phonetic Awareness - Rhyming words - Counting the sounds in words.
For the Science Focus
- Content and Thinking Skills - You child will get to understand that plants are living things and there are many different types of plants - Understand that living plants can be grouped according to their attributes.
- Developing The Theme - There are suggestions on encouraging children to think about their experiences at the park and to review what they have seen there. -It is also suggested that a trip to the park be conducted so your Vampires experience with plants can be further enhanced.
